Design of Steel Structures to Eurocode EN 1993-1-1:2019 is organised as four three-hour sessions over two days and is delivered via a combination of seminars and workshop exercises to apply the methods in practice.
Session one provides an introduction to limit state design. It covers background to Eurocode 3 and limit state design. It also covers global stability of frames, design of members loaded in tension and provides a design example for tension members, plus a workshop.
Session two covers beams, including local buckling and section classification, design of laterally restrained beams, design of laterally unrestrained beams. It also provides a design example for beams and a workshop.
Session three addresses compression members. It covers axially loaded members, effective length, slenderness ratio, design of members subjected to axial loads and moments, interaction diagrams and equations, a design example for columns and a workshop.
Session four deals with connections, including design of bolted connections, design of welded connections, design of moment connections, a design example for connections and a workshop.
