The One Day Digital Technologies course provides an introduction to digital technologies and their application in this fast moving field. The course will focus on disruptive digital technologies, namely the “Internet of Things” (IoT), cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, 5G Networks, quantum computing and cloud computing.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however it is recommended that those who apply have a professional, or general interest in within computer science, systems or similar digital technology areas.
The course is also suitable to those with a professional, or general interest in digital technologies.
This course is aimed towards non-technical participants, such as executives, managers, or any individual who is inquisitive about digital technologies and implications of this field of technological development in our places of work and our lives in general.
The one-day course runs in the morning and afternoon.
On completing One Day Digital Technologies, participants will benefit from a clear understanding of these and their application. The interactive, discussion-based, session within the one day programme will provide participants with ideas about how they might potentially adopt digital technologies in their business or place of work.
One Day AI is taught by Professor Perry Xiao, who heads the BioEngineering Research Centre at LSBU’s School of Engineering. Perry is a fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and a senior fellow of Higher Education Academy. He is also a director and co-founder of Biox Systems, a university spin-out that has designed novel sensing technologies used in the FMCG and cosmetics industries.
The course will be taught entirely online via Microsoft Teams.
This one day course will total approximately 8 hours and be comprised of two sessions, beginning at 09:00 and finishing at 17:00.
There is no formal assessment for this course. Each participant that attends the full course will be given a completion certificate.
There is no formal accreditation for this course. By the end participants will have a comprehensive understanding of various disruptive digital technologies and their potential application within their place of work.
