Residents will have access to a range of research related opportunities across GSTT and the NIHR South London Research Delivery Network (RDN).
Participants will be allocated a research active clinical mentor who they will meet at the start and end of the residency. They will be introduced to NHS clinical research in practice and to research active clinicians and clinical academics. Alongside placements and self-directed activities, residents will have access to a range of potential opportunities, enabling them to complete their personal objectives.
Participants will familiarise themselves with the work of ACORN and participate in appropriate opportunities for learning, support and development. Each participant will have an agreed number of hours of placement with a clinical research delivery team, in addition to time for other self-directed learning and engagement in wider events and opportunities.
Below are some of the research engagement opportunities that may be available:
Individuals will develop an increased understanding of the different clinical research career pathways and how these can be accessed and will also have opportunity to develop some practical research skills.
Participants will agree a set of personal objectives, which align with their placement period and their individual development goals.
