The ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching & Mentoring cater to managers responsible for coaching and mentoring within their roles, as well as those aspiring to enter development roles or pursue careers as freelance coaches and mentors. Learners deepen their understanding of coaching and mentoring's organisational impact, assessing their own skills, behaviours, and knowledge in these areas.
Practical experience in planning, delivering, and reviewing coaching sessions is emphasised, with Certificate students required to complete a minimum of 18 hours of coaching and mentoring in the workplace. The course blends coaching/supervision and work-based learning, allowing students to set impactful objectives for their coaching practice.
There are no specific entry requirements, but participants are typically practicing or managers or consultants with a coaching or mentoring role, capable of meeting the assessment demands, often evidenced by holding leadership or qualification at level 3 or above.
The ILM Level 5 qualification caters to individuals and managers with significant responsibility for coaching and mentoring within their organisations, or aspiring freelance coaches or mentors.
The three primary themes covered in the Certificate programme include:
Participants will experience substantial growth in their professional skills and expertise. They will gain invaluable experience in providing professional supervision to colleagues, aiding in their development into effective leaders, managers, and practitioners.
Additionally, participants will develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and behaviours to understand the purpose and principles of effective and ethical professional supervision. They will also learn to establish and maintain effective professional supervision relationships, reflect deeply on their practice, and take responsibility for their own learning and development.
The programme is delivered and assessed by a team of experienced coaches from the Academy of Leadership and Management

All students are provided with study membership of the Institute of Leadership & Management for the duration of their course.
The programme spans 6 months and includes 5 x 1-2-1 tuition sessions, conducted via MS Teams or Zoom.
Participants would be expected to dedicate between 5-8 hours per week undertaking the modules and to complete the assignments.
The assessment comprises practically focused assignments based on the participant's role, organisation, and CPD as a coach.
Participants earn 13 credits upon successful completion of this course.
